Title: Ashikaga Noble
Date: June 13-15, 2008
Medium: Prismacolor and Copic Markers
So, once again I gave my markers a workout on some traditional Japanese costumes. This one had a LARGE amount of stippling detail which I why I chose this one as a challenge. Her outfit is reflective of the summer months when they only wore TWO outer layered kimono (as opposed to EIGHT in the winter months)! Kimonos with black collars at the time were highly in fashion but I felt that the dark black would offset the lighter colors, hence why I chose a greyish color instead.
I started off doing the blue outer layer and working my way around from there. Yes, I'm aware that medium blue isn't really a "summerish" color but I felt that the flowers brightened it up enough to be used as such. I left my signature at the bottom of this one because I felt like the others didn't belong to me without it.
Time: The stippling work took WAY longer than the base colors combined but this one was actually done pretty fast. My estimates range at around 6-7 hours.
