Keeping Secrets

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 24, 2010, 10:26 PM

I completely admit that I have been keeping the next bit of news a secret from people on DA since it's well... not exactly lovely o.oa A while back in August I was supposed to have surgery to remove a blockage from my kidney that had been originally blocked when I was 15. When the doctors got in there they found out that:

A) There was no longer a blockage

But

B) The kidney is now dead

So, on Tuesday I will be having surgery to remove my right hydronephrotic kidney from my body forever. I've been trying not to get too stressed over it since I've had many surgeries before (10 from what I can count) but I've never had a surgery where they took something of that size out before. I keep wondering if I'll feel any different once something as large as an enlarged kidney is taken out of me. Will I miss it? Will I feel like there's a gap inside of me? I have no idea yet.

Also, I found out on Thursday that I was NOT done my midterms. I walked into class and BAM! Had to write a 3 essay midterm, 1 for each movie we saw in class. Normally that isn't so bad, BUT I NEVER SAW THE THIRD MOVIE BECAUSE I WAS SICK! Thankfully our prof gave us a handout on it or I'd have lost 13% of my final mark (/.) Yay for surprise essay tests @_@!

For those of you waiting on the kiriban kanzashi, please know that they are finished but I need to take photos/upload photos. So, they may or may not be uploaded by the time I go into the hospital. I'm sorry for the delay so far (_ _)

On a more happy note, :iconkimono-lovers: is currently having their Halloween contest! Go over and check out the awesome entries and vote for your favorites :D!

Random side note:

Please feel free to check out my awesome Basilisk egg :D!

Large Maiko Style Chrysanthemum - $42 for polyester/cotton/syntheic blend fabric or $50 for silk

Customs: Any are welcome. Feel free to send me a picture of something you like and we can arrange something. An example of a custom would be something like my phoenix kanzashi ([link]. Anything you think up can be made :)

Price differences between silk and non-silk fabrics: Using silk takes much longer to complete than a non-silk piece since I only use rice glue with my silk fabrics. Silk is too delicate for hot glue and so takes more time to dry (10 hours as compared to almost instantaneous). Each silk piece I make uses hand dyed silk so the color can be anything you want whereas polyester/cotton/syntheic blend fabric are bought already colored.

Kanzashi I Already Have Made and Not Yet Sold:

Ayame(Iris) Kanzashi: 100% habutae silk with hand dyed petals/leaves - $30

Don't worry about the surgery, I'm sure it will be fine. And I'm sure, that it will be the same life with or without kidney, because a lot of people are living just with one kidney, and they see beauty in life just like others. :D Take care.
